About Mooring
Once the site of Jim Morrison’s famous 1969 arrest for indecent exposure, and a holding place for Mariel Boatlift refugees, Dinner Key Marina in Coconut Grove, Florida, has a long and rich history and a strong present-day boating community that is integral to what makes Miami unique.
More than 500 boaters live in the mooring fields and anchorage just off Dinner Key. This community of Liveaboards make their home in nature under the shadow of one of the densest metropolitan areas in the United States. Some are transient, coming and going up and down the east coast and down to Central America. Others live on boats that are no longer seaworthy and will never sail again.
Both published writers, Annik Babinski and Michael Martin are a storytelling team. A newer Miami resident, Annik brings wonder and curiosity to a city Michael has known and loved since he was born. Together, they wanted to bring this uniquely Miami story to life.
